We went on a family camping trip to the Oregon coast last week. There were 4 adults and 6 kids — three of them were mine (ages 8, 6 & 4 ), the other 3 were my nephews who are a little older (pre-teen/teen). We didn’t bring a whole lot to entertain the kids at camp but we did bring our new Turtle Toss game from SeaTurtle Sports. It was fun for everyone, including the adults!
The game is easy to set up and take down and is very portable which makes it great for camping trips and other outdoor get togethers. My 8 year old set it up with little help and no directions. We had a nice sandy spot to set it up in at our campsite but it works great on grass too. We actually set it up in a grassy area first but there were pokey things in the grass that the kids kept getting poked with so they moved. it.
Turtle Toss comes with:
- One collapsible target board for maximum portability (33″ l x 22″ w)
- 8 barrel-shaped bean bags (2 blue, 2 purple, 2 yellow, and 2 orange)
- Laminated weatherproof rules (they thought of everything!)
- Custom carry bag with adjustable strap and vented bottom
Our set didn’t have purple bean bags, but two different colors of blue.

The kids usually ended up playing one on one with two colors of bean bags each. If a bean bag doesn’t land in a hole, sometimes it can be knocked in with your next shot. One of the kids decided the carrying bag should be used as the toss line. They had so much fun playing Turtle Toss until one of them fell right on top of the target board and broke the legs (the kids were messing around — totally their fault). It’s well made and should easily stand up to normal use but this was an unfortunate accident and they were so disappointed! We tried to try to fix it but didn’t have anything that would work while we were camping.
Aside from how much fun the game is, the feature I appreciated the most was the mesh, vented bag bottom to filter the sand, dirt or whatever else you might trap inside. We’ve had other toss games and they always get stuff stuck in the targets so this design was great!
