With 3 days left until Christmas, I think I am almost finished with my Christmas shopping. So last night I started the wrapping. I usually wait until the kids go to bed so I don’t have to deal with the constant interruptions but this time, I set the kiddos up with some craft projects. I use the term “set up” very loosely because basically I just handed them the iPad and told them to check out the new app I downloaded for them — TutoTod.
My oldest daughter who just turned 7 loves to craft and she’s very resourceful. I took a bathroom break during my wrapping marathon and wondered why the toilet paper roll was missing the actual roll. I have no idea how she got the toilet paper roll out while still leaving the toilet paper in tact but every bathroom in the house is now missing the cardboard roll. She had some crafting to do!
I’m already loving the TutoTod app not only because it encourages and inspires creativity but because all of the crafts can be done using different combinations of 6 tools/supplies. Just choose the ones you have on hand and the app will show you which crafts you can make with them. It’s pretty cool! Most people have scissors, glue, markers, paper, string and toilet paper rolls (if you save them) so you won’t need to make any special trips to the store.
I downloaded the Christmas Special package and without any help at all from me, my kids made several of the crafts with the help of the TutoTod tutorials and it literally kept them busy for hours. The craft on the upper left is a little hockey set, then a santa hat tree topper, a wreath and an advent wreath. I didn’t give them any glue but my kids LOVE tape so they used patterned tape for some of these projects.
TutoTod was just updated with 20 Christmas craft tutorials which brings the total number of craft tutorials available on the app up to 89! I love how simple this app is because it’s going to allow me to let my kids create more. It puts more control in their hands and lets them be independent. I don’t have to spend hours searching for crafts on Pinterest then gathering all the supplies. It’s going to be a great resource during this winter break when they claim their bored!
TutoTod created this app with intention of boosting kid’s creativity and allowing them to feel a sense of accomplishment which gives them a better image of themselves. It uses technology in a way that helps develop their fine motor skills, focus and precision rather than just playing meaningless games.
