Did you know that aluminum can cause toxins to build up in the body? Many traditional deodorants contain aluminum. Aluminum works as an antiperspirant by clogging the sweat glands in your armpits. One of the ways your body filters toxins is through your sweat which means you’re trapping the toxins which would naturally be expelled from your body through your sweat glands. Using natural deodorants helps keep those toxin from building up by allowing your body to sweat naturally.
Though it hasn’t been proven, many people believe there is a link between aluminum and breast cancer. Why risk it when there are natural alternatives like WildRoot deodorant? I recently made the switch and have been happy with the results! WildRoot offers several different scents including Wildflower, Meadow, Citrus Leaf, and Tall Pine in two formulas — Performance and Sensitive.
The Performance Formula contains baking soda which adds and extra layer of bacteria-killing protection for those with a stronger body odor. About half of all users have a sensitivity to baking soda and may experience some irritation. In those cases, the sensitive skin formula is recommended as it does not contain baking soda. I personally experienced some minor irritation with the baking soda formula but it was tolerable. If you have an skin conditions like eczema or tend to be prone to irritation, I recommend going straight to the sensitive formula.
With both formulas your body will go through a “detox period”. If you’ve been using aluminum containing deodorants that clog your sweat glands your body will need to rid that bacteria and toxins from your body. When you make the switch you’ll start sweating again which may make it hard for your new deodorant to keep up at first. Detox begins right away and can last for up to three weeks. For most people, it will last 3-10 days. During this detox period it is recommended that you stay hydrated. You may want to take extra steps to “sweat it out” like using a sauna, doing hot yoga or adding some extra workout sessions! Be sure to drink plenty of water!
During the detox period you may want to have some wet wipes handy and be ready to reapply deodorant as needed. Once your body adjusts your armpits should feel normal again. I’ve been using the Meadow Sensitive Formula for about a week now and haven’t experienced any noticeable signs of detox. The deodorant is keeping up with my body and doing a good job of keeping body odor under control. In fact, I think it’s doing an even better job than my normal deodorant. I like to sleep with lots of blankets and sometimes wake up during the night because I’m too hot and sweaty. Sometimes I’m pretty stinky by the morning but I haven’t noticed that since I’ve been using WildRoot!
Even if you do experience the detox period, it’s worth waiting it out during your body’s adjustment. It’s an easy way to treat your body right and make a healthy switch. You can find out more about WildRoot at www.shopwildroot.com.
