Wonster Words is an award winning app for iOS and Android that helps kids learn to sound out words, learn their letter sounds and ultimately learn to read and spell. The game is inspired by Sesame Street and introduces basic word families and the 44 most common phonemes.
The way the game works is really neat. Kids play with animated letters that sound out the phonics, gliding vowels and consonant blends as they are being played. The letter characters are silly and fun making it interesting.
Once the child has spelled the word with the animated letters, they learn what the word means via short animations, increasing their vocabulary. They also get a gift to open for completing the word and can grow their collection of prizes.
Wonster Words has won numerous awards including the Mom’s Choice Award, Children’s Technology Review Editor’s Choice and NAPPA. The game is designed for ages 3-6.
Wonster Words is free to download for iOS and Android but in-app purchases are available. Get different word packs, themes and more! Now through 1/6, get the All Access pass for only $9.99 on Google Play (regular price is $14.99). This special is only good on Google Play.

My six year old really loves playing Wonster Word. She loves the “prizes” and always wants to show me what she won. The game really keeps her engaged. I can hear her giggling as she plays it and I know she’s learning along the way. This is the exact type of game I love having for my kids — super fun yet educational at the same time! If you have a little one, be sure to check this app out!
Anything that speeds up the process. It can be a stressful time. I am glad that there are fun, ways to get the kids engaged and excited to learn.
This is such a great app! My daughter learns really well through educational apps, but usually the reading/writing ones bore her after only a few minutes. I downloaded the free version of Wonster Words and she loved it!! I just bought it thanks to her positive response to it, they should all have demos! 🙂
