When I was a little girl I was very reserved and shy. I didn’t like talking about my feelings and I certainly didn’t want to discuss “growing up”. I remember when my mom mentioned my “bug bites” in reference to my developing breasts. I was so embarrassed! Even just writing that makes me a little uncomfortable, even as an adult! I have two daughters though and time isn’t standing still. Thankfully, my oldest daughter is nothing like me and was super excited to get her first bra for the start of the school year.
My oldest daughter is only 8. She doesn’t really need a bra yet for supportive reasons but it doesn’t hurt getting her comfortable wearing one. Yellowberry sent her a bubblegum pink Ladybug Bra to try out. It arrived beautifully packaged making her even more excited about wearing her very first bra.
The first day of school McKinley wanted to wear one of her new outfits that included a white tee. I noticed that it was a bit see through so it was the perfect time to wear her new bra! The size XS fits her perfectly. She loves that she can switch the straps from traditional to criss-cross. The material is made from super soft 12 ounce cotton which means it’s extra thick to ensure full coverage. There aren’t any annoying tags and the straps are adjustable for a comfortable fit. This bra pulls on like a cami — there aren’t any metal clasps or hooks so it comfy and easy to wear. Best of all, from this mom’s standpoint, is that this bra is machine washable and can be put in the dryer!
McKinley loves doing cartwheels and I am constantly reminding her to tuck her shirt in. Wearing a bra like this helps keep her modest. It’s also great under some of her tank tops that have low cut arm holes. Bras from Yellowberry will help with the transition as she gets older and matures.
Yellowberry was founded in 2014 by a 17 year old named Megan. Her vision was inspired by a bra shopping trip with her younger sister when they realized how difficult it was to find comfortable and appropriate bras specifically for girls. She decided to skip college and dedicate her time to founding a company that offers cute and comfortable bras for tweens and becoming an strong female role model to inspire young girls to make a difference. You can read more about Megan’s story here.
Yellowberry believes in the following mantras and each bra is made with one of them attached to the tag or sewn into the bra itself:
