I always thought that if I had a little boy, I’d have a “no weapons” rule. I held out for the first couple of years while it was still fairly easy. Then my Hubs brought home a couple of Nerf guns and it was all over. Boys will be boys right? Are you worried about toys like sling shots being dangerous? I’ve changed my stance a little. Sometimes parents just have to be flexible. Yes, my son has a Nerf gun. He also builds swords and guns and light sabers out of Legos and Superstructs. But he knows if he actually uses them on his sisters or anyone else, they’ll get taken away. I like Zing Air toys because they are soft so even if someone accidentally gets pegged, the chances of an actual injury are low. I’m still not a big fan of weapon type toys but I do find it amusing how boys gravitate towards them. My four year old gets that sparkle in his eye just talking about them. Any mom of a boy will tell you, it’s inevitable! At least we can make it as safe as possible.
