I’m really feeling on top of my mom game this Halloween. All three of my kiddos had their costumes picked out before October. Two of my kids took it really easy on me and picked costumes from our dress up trunk. As is typical, my middle child wasn’t as easy. We had gotten a costume catalog in the mail and she’d been pouring over it for days. When I finally had time to sit down with her so she could show me what she liked I knew I was going to have some persuading to do. First she wanted to be some sort of weird fruit with ugly faces on them. Then she wanted to be a hideous looking unicorn. I was almost ready to give in since it was better than the fruit but then we decided to look online at CostumeExpress.com. Boy, am I glad we did! While they actually have some of these awful costumes I mentioned, they have some super adorable ones I haven’t seen elsewhere.
When I first saw the Spiderina Witch costume I knew it was the one for McKinley. It totally fits her spunky attitude! The hot pink and lime green with black stripes are so sassy! The colorful skirt with layers of pink tulle and black lace make her instantly want to twirl and dance. This costume has amazing detailing. Check out the lace hem of the dress. Gorgeous, right?
It’s hard to see in the photo but there are spiders dangling from the top of the hat and the oversized collar of the dress. As a mom, the thing I love about this costume is that it isn’t as skimpy as many of the costumes out there. In fact, it comes with a pair of green and black striped leggings and matching arm warmers which look really cool but also function to keep my baby from freezing to death while trick or treating!
McKinley is 4 and wearing a size Medium. She’s a little big for her age and I think the costume fits her quite well. There is some room to grow and I’ll probably do a little pinning in the back because my husband was a bit concerned with how low the bodice is. It tends to get pulled down a bit in the front but it’s an easy and temporary fix so she’ll be able to use this costume for dress up well past Halloween.
The Spiderina costume is a 3 piece set that comes with the dress, leggings and arm warmers. The hat pictured here is sold separately. Also in this costume line is a matching broom, bag and shoes. Here’s what the complete ensemble looks like:
There was one other costume we considered that was similar to this one. The skirt of this witch costume lights up which is a really neat feature but it doesn’t fit McKinley’s style quite as well:
McKinley asks to wear her costume every day. I wonder if she likes it. You can find these costumes and a ton of other great costumes at costumeexpress.com. Don’t wait until the last minute! Order your costume today!
