This is an item that I feel does not get enough credit. Both of my babies were born as fall was ending and winter was beginning. It seemed that after they were only a few months old, it was always so dry in our house, that we had to run a cool mist humidifier. Not only did the cool mist humidifier help their stuffy noses, but it also became a white noise machine and drowned out background noises. I have found a few cool mist humidifiers that you should keep in mind for any new parent (or any parent for that fact).
One of my favorite humidifiers is the Crane Cool Mist Humidifier
. You can read about how I reviewed one here. They are about $35 and are so easy to clean that it is remarkable. I will say that the sound is so soft though to where it may not be the best for a white noise machine, but the humidifer works wonderfully and I can not recommend it enough. Don’t forget the filters either!
You can also look into the Vicks 1.0 Gallon Cool Mist Humidifier
. I have not personally used this humidifier, but Vicks has always been the answer to a cold, right? 😉 If you know anything about this product, please let me know. It is also priced around $35.

I have one of the Vicks machines and do not like it at all. We purchased one and it didn't seem to produce any steam no matter what setting it was on. My husband and I thought it might be broke so we returned it and bought another. We ran into the same problem. I bought a Crane humidifier and this one is great! SO quiet, so easy to use, so easy to clean. I would defintely recommend the Crane over the Vicks any day!!
