Last week I had the opportunity to take my kids to see an advanced screening of Monsters University. I don’t know who was more excited, me or the kids. Monsters, Inc. is one of my all-time favorite kids movies so I’ve been looking forward to this since I first heard they were making it. We were delighted when we were handed 3D glasses as we arrived — that was a fun surprise since my kids had never been to a 3D mo
“Mike Wazowski and James P. Sullivan are an inseparable pair, but that wasn’t always the case. From the moment these two mismatched monsters met they couldn’t stand each other. “Monsters University” unlocks the door to how Mike and Sulley overcame their differences and became the best of friends.”
Monsters University is a prequel to Monsters, Inc. It’s a peek back in time and a really cool concept for a movie. My kids got to learn how Mike & Sulley became scarers and thought it was pretty funny that the two monsters weren’t always friends. The characters in this movie aren’t just colorful in hue — they’ve also got very colorful characteristics which really captured and held my kid’s interest throughout the movie.
The film opens in U.S. theaters on June 21, 2013, and will be shown in Disney Digital 3D™ in select theaters. Don’t get to the movie late or you’ll miss the adorable short film with umbrellas as characters. This was in 3D as well and my kids were amazed. The story and the music of the short film were both very enjoyable!
In the photo above, my son Jackson is doing his best impression of a “scare” while McKinley, my daughter is sporting her 3D glasses she thought were so cool she didn’t want to take off after the movie was over.
Monsters University was everything I hoped it would be! We had a great time!
I received free tickets to the advanced screening of Monsters University. I was not compensated in any other way and all statements in this review are my honest opinion. See Mommies With Cents disclosure policy for more details.
