What mom doesn’t love choc0late? Green & Black’s Chocolate not only tastes great but there’s more to love than just any old chocolate. Since it’s Earth Month, we want to give a big shout out to Green & Black’s for their effort to do their part for the earth with their organic fair trade certified chocolate:
- Green & Black’s, using only the finest organically-grown cocoa beans, believes that every step from bean to bar is equally important and strives to ensure that all ingredients are grown in ways that are consciously respectful of the planet – including maintaining a sustainable relationship working directly with cocoa farmers.
- Green & Black’s is a Fair Trade Certified brand dedicated to empowering its cocoa growing partners to establish sustainable livelihoods and communities. Farmers receive a guaranteed minimum for their ingredients, along with an additional premium to invest in the social, environmental and economic development of their countries.
Green & Black’s has provided us with a few other simple suggestions on how to give back to Mother Earth:
- Save Water: Skip pre-washing dishes before putting them in the dishwasher – which could save up to 12.5 gallons of water a week. Skip the head-dry cycle and air-dry dishes.
- Reduce Waste: Opt for a faucet or pitcher water filter rather than buying bottled water – which could keep thousands of water bottles out of landfills and save $600 a year per household.
- Save Energy: Wash laundry in cold water – which could save up to 80% of the energy used per load. Skip the dryer and opt to hang-drying laundry.
Now, back to the chocolate. I’m not picky about my chocolate so I don’t know how much this will mean coming from me but Green & Black’s Chocolate is DIVINE. We were given three different varieties to try. One of them was dark chocolate which I don’t care for. My kids got into this one when I was out of the room for 2 SECONDS and they give it two chocolaty thumbs up. I wouldn’t dare let the other two varieties go unattended for any length of time- Toffee and Peanut & Sea Salt. Delish! Here’s the description for the Peanut & Sea Salt from Green & Blacks: “With just one taste, you’ll see why our newest chocolate bar is anything but plain peanut. From the smooth, full-bodied 37% milk chocolate to the crisply caramelized organic peanuts, to the final bright hint of sea salt, every layer is more indulgent than the next. Naturally, you won’t want to share.”
Well, naturally, I didn’t share. I indulged myself during nap time three days in a row. 37% milk chocolate is apparently means really chocolaty. There’s no way I could eat a whole bar in one sitting (it’s a good sized bar to begin with). I loved that hint of sea salt and the caramelized peanuts. I am really dying for a square of it now!
The Toffee variety was so good it almost a tied with the Peanut & Sea Salt, but not quite. Just a personal preference but it actually surprised me because normally I’d vote for Toffee all the way.
