Green tip: buy local, u-pick crops, or farmer’s market – it’s the biggest thing you can do reduce your footprint. Also, walk everywhere.

Green Tip: mix equal parts vinegar and water for an all purpose surface cleaner. saves money and no toxic chemicals for your little ones.
my tip is to find a way to use glass jars that once had food in them…drinking glasses, vases, storage…
I LOVE the tees so much that I can’t decide which one I like best! My fiance and I ride our scooters around town and to work to save gas.
SO cute!
This isn’t particular unique, but I don’t use paper towels for anything. We use rags for cleaning, mops for floors, cloth wipes and wash cloths to clean our son, etc. Saves money and trees!
Dont accelerate fast when driving from stop. Use bucket in shower to catch water to water houseplants. Reuse your coolwhip and similar containers that are safe (2 or 5)
My favorite green tip to unplug your computer and moden when not in use – you can really save off your electric bill if you do this. We also keep our tv and gaming toys on an electrical stip that is super easy to turn everything on and off at once, and we certainly do save several bucks a month with this!
(my email addy is on my profile page)
green tip: rain barrel for outside watering needs!

Cute shirt! I have several favorites when it comes to being *green*….turn on lights ONLY AS NEEDED, use old washcloths/towels/t-shirts in place of paper towels, buy reusuable bags for shopping and USE them!
[email protected]
My earth saving tip – the slow cooker! It takes way less energy to run your crock pot than your big oven, so I cook so much in there. Plus a money saving AND healthy tip – use it to prepare and freeze dried beans in separate containers. Pulling a container of beans from the freezer is just as easy as a can of beans from the pantry.
I have started using the reusable grocery bags to help conserve waste. I think that is the simplest way to help in a big way.

Great giveaway! There are lots of great tips here.
Here is mine: switch your lightbulbs to CFLs. Save money, and help the environment.
Some easy changes ~ buy local, especially easy in summer with farmer markets, etc; use canvas bags for shopping; turn of water while brushing teeth; run dishwasher when full; compost; recycle 🙂
Great tee, love stuff like that!
Green tip: Ask teacher friends for item wish lists in order to reuse trash/recycling. Teachers have uses for egg cartons, paper towel rolls, used gift cards, plastic lids to jugs/bottles… the list goes on.
[email protected]
Green Tip: recycle paper – don’t throw away junk mailings, use the back for grocery lists, scratch paper for kids, starter paper for fire (don’t burn any plastic tho!!), use the envelopes for filing coupons, etc. And take your old newspapers to the local animal rescue, they can always use newspapers.
Love the give away – thanks for the opportunity! tingar at hotmail dot com
Great giveaway!
My tip- Not very unique, but re-use containers (wipes containers, glass jars, etc.) for other purposes, like organization. Also, run the dish washer only when full.

I use diatomaceous earth (all natural powder) to control fleas where the dogs sleep.

Thanks for the opportunity!
Some of my green tips:
1) Use reusable bags for your shopping. Keep them in your car so that you always have them. Target sells a great one that is $1.49 and is HUGE.
2) I use the toaster oven instead of the regular oven to cook smaller things like cinnamon rolls, bread, etc.
3) Close your curtains and blinds during the summer to help keep the heat out and open them in the winter to let heat in.

My tip is to get your kids “going green,” so that it becomes a way of life!
[email protected]
Cool! Thanks for the heads up. I’m passing along a tip for an entry as well.
My Tip: Try recycling before you buy new! Check out the details on our Tipster Tuesday post this week
Use Natural light. I know that it sounds so simple but I dont think we realize how often we use lights in our house! Turn them off and open the windows!
Use fans! Yes they use energy but it will cut down on the use of the AC!
I always use my reusable shopping bags for one thing. The other big things are we are using cloth napkins and towels instead of paper towels and family cloth instead of toilet paper.
Big green tip flying through my office: do not use plastic water bottles; instead, use paper or reusable glass bottles.
[email protected]
Be creative in your recycling… its amazing what other uses you can come up with for things instead of throwing them away!
Turn your AC up five degrees when you leave the house for more than a few hours. It’s been proven that it’s cheaper for your AC to have to “work hard” to get the temp back down to your comfort level than to leave it running at that temp all day.
Get your kids involved as much as possible – they come up with great ideas and are great at reminding you how important it is to protect the environment!
walk, walk, walk, and eliminate as many plastic bags as possible by using totes. These tees are fabulous love the sayings.
use my compost bin at all times, recyle newspapers magazines and books every little thing helps
My favorite is to compost.

i write reminders and other important things on my virtual “post-it”s on my computer, saving lots of trees, thanks for the contest

green tip: cloth diapers! I have saved so much money this way!

We like to use reusable bags whenever possible!

Super cute tees! I’m into “hyper-miling”: we don’t accelerate fast, try not to go over 2 rpm, slow gradually…pretty much drive like a granny! 🙂 We also have our first garden growing and it’s producing a ton of great produce! So exciting!
[email protected]
Green tip: Instead of using twist ties in the grocery store, just tie the plastic bag. I know it’s not that exciting, but it is a step in the right direction.

Green Road Trip: Before you leave unplug everything, flip gas water heater to vacation mode, give your car a tune up, replace air filter, inflate tires, slow down to reduce co 2 emissions, & park in the shade. [email protected] Thanks!!!!
We’ve really gotten into gardening this year. My gren tip is to grow from what you already have! We’ve planted (and grown!)all sorts of dried beans, avocado pits and melons. Our next project is a dragon fruit cactus plant. My kids are so excited to see their food “sprouting”
RECYCLE! I don’t understand people who don’t do this. I used to live in the country and would recycle all I could and drop it off on my shopping trips. It did take a little extra work, but I felt good knowing that I was helping the planet. Now it’s easy–curbside. Thanks a lot!
send ecards i/o cards in the mail, esp to “green” friends who will appreciate it; have one box of baby wipes that are cut in half for the times you don’t need a full one; buy concentrated detergent-fewer bottles
[email protected]
RECYCLE! It is the name of the game!!:) I love your site!! Thanks!
I recycle as much as possible, turn off lights when not in use, utilize the FreeCycle website for getting rid of unwanted items, ride my bike if I can, shop online to save gas to the store, shop at my local stores instead of the further away malls, use canvas bags for shopping, use my Energystar appliances and electronics, and always be mindful of the footprint you are leaving!!
[email protected]
I reuse whatever I can or recycle.
From plastic bottles or bags. I use vinegar & water to clean windows & mirrors. Buy local produce, etc.
Really love the TEE!!!!!!!

trying to do the vinager/baking soda cleaning and reusable totes
That baby shirt is adorable!
I invested on a chic reusable shopping tote and started using it on my shopping trips. If my stuff wouldn’t fit, I ask for grocery paper bags insted of plastic bags then I reuse the paper bags!
The shopping tote is really cute too – being “green” and stylish at the same time!
Thanks for the giveaway!

My favorite green tip is to make my own cleaners and laundry detergent. We live on a farm and a lot of those nasty chemicals not only mess with the septic tank but can also find their way into the creek and other water outlets.
In the past few months…I have gotten more green!
Cute Shirt, my favorite green tip is to use reusable shopping bags. When I think about how much plastic is wasted for grocery bags, it is so sad. I love to take my fabric shopping bags with me everywhere I go. I even take them to the farmers market. Which is another tip, use the local farmers market, the food is so much better for you, and tastes better too. Thanks for such a great giveaway.
Use cloth diapers.
[email protected]
Unplug lamps and other electrical items when not in use.
[email protected]
We dont use most disposable items; napkins, paper towels, diapers or wipes!
We’ve started taking reusable bags to the grocery store. Not only are we not wasting plastic bags anymore, but the stores give us $.05 off our bill for every bag we bring! Good for the earth and our wallets!
Thanks for the chance to win this shirt- love it!

Don’t leave the water on while you brush your teeth and make sure you bring reusable bags with you everywhere!

my fave green tip is cloth diapering. Cloth diapers are cute, look comfy and earth friendly! 🙂
Wow! there are a lot of useful tips here. Here are two of mine that I don’t think I saw on the list.
(1) In the HOT South, we close the blinds or drapes on the sun-side of the house to cut down on cooling. Also, we keep the thermostat at 79 – 80 F.
(2) We almost always use cloth napkins, even in kids’ school lunches!
Cute tee. Would love to win one.
Green tip: we have a programmable thermostat that we set at 78 during the day and lover in the evening. It has helped greatly, because it turns on/off on its own. We were always forgetting to turn it up in the AM.
[email protected]
I could always use another t-shirt!
Green tip: Save plastic containers that can’t be recycled to use for kids crafts and organization of craft supplies.
[email protected]
Before I started using my reusable bags we reused the plastic bags we got from shopping as trash bags. I also clean with vinegar and baking soda.
Reuse glass jars instead of using plastic.

We recently put out boxes at the nursing home where I work, so residents can have their newspapers recycled. A lot of our residents subscribe to a daily paper, and it makes me cringe to think of the amount of newspapers we used to throw in the garbage!
Cute tee. Would love to win it! My tip is to clean hard water deposits with either vinegar or lemon juice.
My tip: Join a CSA! It will give you healthy, fresh, local (and often organic) vegetables that haven’t been shipped long distances, build community, and help to support farmers in your area who are doing it right.
Here’s my green tips:
I drive my car only when I have to and I try to re-purpose any thing I can instead of throwing it away only to end up in a landfill.
The tees are really cute!
Christina

My “green” tip is to only drive when you need to to conserve fuel and don’t use electricity when you don’t have to. This is a great giveaway and I really hope I win. Thanks.

We just stopped using paper towels altogether by buying a lot of rags from the dollar store.
Love the tees! My favorite green tip s to use a baking soda paste as a degreaser on the stovetop.
Tees for Change is a line of eco-friendly tees that inspire positivity.

I love them. Wearable art.

I've seen these & would love to win one!
My green tip: shower every other day- and reduce your time to 5 minutes. Use a timer if you need to!
favorite green tip! use the back of old printed paper, it saves paper and money!
buy local… here in cali where i live, we have something called abundant harvest organics and every week they deliver fresh organic fruits and veggies preboxed… so every saturday we go and pick up our box of goodies… even comes with recipes!
Instead of wasting money and CO2 on paper towels for simple things like drying hands and cleaning small spills in the kitchen, keep a small pile of dish towels on the counter.
[email protected]
My favorite green tip is to recycle plastic bags that cover my Sunday newspaper by using them to cover shoes, dog poop pick up bags and use them as trash bags in my car.
I MAKE my kids do an extra chore each time they leave a light on in an unoccupied room 🙂
use reusable shopping bags.. it is SO easy!
try and reuse foil, plastic rap and plastic bags whenever you can, get the most out of them before you throw them away!
I bought local corn today. Buy and shop local.

Plastic shopping bags for garbage cans!
Thanks for my awesome tee, it is so soft!
