This week has been a bust. Well, I guess not a ton, but I didn’t gain any weight, so that’s better than nothing, right? Right? haha I have been so lucky to be drawn for jury duty and out of a ton of people, guess who was chosen? Moi. Instead of a simple trial, I am “stuck” in a 4 week mess. Let’s just say my family’s lives have been flipped upside down very quickly. We had to hurry and find babysitting for the days my husband had to fly and I am out of commission everyday all day long with no connection to the outside world. One perk is that we get to eat out for lunch everyday, but this is also a disaster. I am so weak that it is SO hard for me to stay with my diet! I try to get a salad or chicken, but then I just ruin it by getting dessert or something. Eek! This is definitely one reason I will be so happy when the trial is over.
If you are one that eats out, what are a few tips you may have to eat healthy and not get suckered into the wonderful items that are on the menu?

With a new challenge in your life – yay for you, for not gaining! I consider this a victory!
The ways I tackle eating out is I ask for all dressing to be on the side. Then I dip my fork into the dressing cup and then poke at what I’m wanting it with. I never finish my dressing – and had it be poured onto the dish, it would have been gone.
I also drink one to two glasses of water before I eat.
Most times I divide my food in half (sometimes mentaly, other times, literally), and take the leftovers home with me.
After I’ve eaten around half I’ll make sure to have another glass of water before deciding if I’m going to finish it or take it home – and for the most part I always take it home.
Be aware that a healthy item can be VERY unhealthy at restaurants! That broccoli you’re getting has most likely been drenched in oil and/or butter. So when you’re placing your order, ask them how they cook what they do (if they don’t know, ask them to ask). You can also just say you want everything grilled, and/or everything cooked without oil and/or butter.
And don’t beat yourself up! You are amazing! You will reach your end results – it’s in your character. Know that this is just a random bump in your path that will soon be a memory.
